These are the tsunami and the earthquake that have caused the most victims

On December 26, 2004, an earthquake with a value of 9 Mw occurred under the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Indonesia. The tsunami that derived from the earthquake flooded the coasts of nine countries around the Indian Ocean.

As of January 20, 2005, the death toll reached at least 226,000 people.

The largest number of earthquake deaths during modern times occurred in North America on January 12, 2010. The earthquake was a Mw 7, with an epicenter 25 km west of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti.

The number of victims was 316,000. The disaster also left some 1.3 million people displaced and 97,294 houses destroyed.

The deadliest earthquake of all time was probably the one that struck the Chinese provinces of Shaanxi and Henan on February 2, 1556: 830,000 deaths.
